On Upwork, a proposal is an application that you, as a freelancer, send to potential clients to express your interest in their project and convince them that you are the best fit for the job. It’s similar to a cover letter or an application letter.

Remember, you’ll use Connects, which are a virtual currency on Upwork, for each proposal you submit. The number of Connects required per proposal depends on the job’s budget or complexity.
