How to Make Your Upwork Profile Public
Easy Guide for Novice Freelancers
Upwork allows you to choose who can see your profile and hourly rate. There are three visibility options: “Public”, “Upwork Users Only” and “Private”. By default, your profile is set to ‘Upwork Users Only’.
To make your profile public, you need to go through the following steps.
Step 1: Login to Your Upwork Account
Log into your Upwork account using your username (or email address) and your password. Click on the Login button to proceed to your account.
Step 2: Navigate to Settings
Once on your dashboard, locate the arrow next to your profile picture. Click on the arrow button and a dropdown should appear. In the dropdown, locate and click ‘Settings’.
Step 3: Go to ‘My Profile’ Section in Settings
On the ‘Settings’ page, navigate and click on ‘My Info’. Under this section, you will find ‘My Profile’. Click on it.
Step 4: Choose the Visibility Option
Scroll down to the ‘Profile Settings’ section. Here you will find your current profile visibility. To change, click on it and a dropdown menu will open. From the dropdown menu, select the ‘Public’ option.
Step 5: Save Your Changes
After selecting the ‘Public’ option, don’t forget to click the green ‘Save’ button located at the bottom of the page. This will save your changes and set your profile visibility to ‘Public’.
Tips to Keep in Mind
- Setting your profile to ‘Public’ means that anyone on and off Upwork can see it. Be aware of what information you share.
- If your profile stays inactive for a long time, Upwork might set it back to a ‘Private’ view.
- Never share any confidential or sensitive information in your public profile that you wouldn’t want the world to see.
