How to Deactivate Upwork Account

Deactivating your Upwork account may seem complex, but with this step-by-step guide, you’ll find it quite easy. Follow the instructions below closely for a seamless process.

Procedure

1. Log into your Upwork account.
2. Click on the profile photo at the top-right corner of your dashboard.
3. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the Settings page; you’ll see an option titled “Close my account”.
5. Click on the option to initiate the account closure process. It will guide you through a few steps where you’ll have to provide a reason for closing your account and possibly an optional feedback.
6. Finally, click “Confirm Close my Account”.

Note:

Please make sure to withdraw all your funds from your account before proceeding with deactivation. Also, be aware that closing the account will remove your complete work history, reviews and ties to any contracted clients, and it cannot be reopened again.
