Steps to Close Your Upwork Account

It’s crucial to remember that closing your Upwork account is a significant action that will lead to permanent deletion of your profile and all your associated data. Here are the steps to close your account:

Preparation Before Account Deletion

• Please ensure that all your projects are finished and all payments received.
• Withdraw any remaining balance in your account.
• Inform any ongoing clients about your departure.

Steps to Close Your Account

1. Go to Settings

After logging in, go to the Settings located at the upper-right corner of your homepage.

2. Click on ‘Contact Info’

In the settings dropdown menu, select ‘Contact Info’.

3. Click on ‘Close My Account’

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and press the button ‘Close My Account’.

4. Follow the Prompts

Choose the reason for closing your account and fill out the brief survey, then click the ‘Close My Account’ button to finalize the process.

Considerations

One thing to remember is that if you have an agency account associated with your freelancer account, you will need to either delete it or have it transferred to another individual before you can shut down your own account.Please note: Once your account is closed, it cannot be reopened.
