Getting Paid on Upwork

As a seasoned freelancer on Upwork, I understand adjusting to the platform may be overwhelming at first. But don’t worry, I will guide you through the process.

Step 1: Setting up your Payment Method

  • First, you need to set up a withdrawal method. Upwork supports several payment methods.
  • Different withdrawal methods:

    • Direct to your local bank
    • Wire transfer
    • Instant withdrawal to a U.S. bank
    • Payoneer
    • Paypal

    Setting the Payment Method:

  • Go to the Settings section of your Upwork account
  • Choose Get Paid
  • Click on Add Method
  • Select your preferred payment method and enter the appropriate details
  • Step 2: Billing Method

Now, let’s discuss how you actually get paid. This generally depends on the agreement you entered into with your client.Hourly Projects:

  • Your client will be billed every Monday for the hours you tracked in the previous week.
  • You’ll then have a review period until the following Friday where any disputes can be raised.
  • If there are no disputes, the payment will undergo a five-day security period.
  • After that, the payment will be available for you to withdraw.
  • Fixed Price Projects:

  • For fixed-price projects, the client deposits the agreed upon amount into Escrow.
  • Once you have completed the assigned milestone, you will submit it for review.
  • If the client is satisfied, the funds in Escrow will be released to you.
  • Step 3: Withdrawing your Earnings

  • Once your earnings are available, you can go to Get Paid page
  • Click on Get Paid Now
  • Enter the amount you want to withdraw and select the method
  • Remember, it’s always important to communicate clearly with your client during all stages of the project. Now, get out there and start freelancing!Should you need further assistance, feel free to ask.
