What are Connects?

Connects are essentially like ‘credits’ on the Upwork platform, which freelancers can use to submit proposals. To express interest in a job on Upwork, a proposal has to be submitted and this process requires the use of connects.

How do I get Connects?

The method of getting connects depends on the type of your membership plan. There are two types:

1. Basic Membership:

As part of this free plan, freelancers are provided with 10 connects per month. These connects can only be obtained at the start of your billing cycle and they do not roll over to next month if unused.

2. Plus Membership:

This is a paid plan that gives freelancers 80 connects every month. Unlike the Basic membership, unused connects will rollover to the next billing month. It’s priced at $14.99/month.

Additionally, you can purchase more connects regardless of your membership type at the following rates:

• 1 Connect = $0.15
• 10 Connects = $1.50
• 20 Connects = $3
• 40 Connects = $6
• 60 Connects = $9
• 80 Connects = $12

Earning Connects

While purchasing connects is an option, you can also earn them in certain ways including:

• Returning unused Connects: Connects returned from job postings that have been cancelled by clients will be available for use.
• Winning interviews: When a client reaches out to interview you directly, sending a proposal won’t use any Connects.
