When will i get paid upwork?
Understanding Upwork Payments
Payment Schedule
On Upwork, when and how you get paid depends largely on the type of contract you have with your client.
Hourly Contracts: These are billed weekly. You’ll be invoicing your client every Monday, the client has 5 days to review your work and the payment clears 10 days after the end of the billing period. Fixed-Price Contracts: You get paid per milestone. Once you deliver the work for a milestone and the client approves it, the payment usually takes 5 days to clear.
Steps Involved in Processing Payments
- Upon successful completion of a job, you can request your client to release the payment.
- The client reviews the work. This process may take up to 14 days.
- Once the client approves, the funds move from Pending to Available under your Transactions. It takes about 5 days for this process.
- From here, you can transfer the funds to your chosen withdrawal method.
Setting up Payment Withdrawal on Upwork
Before you can receive funds, you need to setup your payment withdrawal method on Upwork. You have several options including direct to your bank account, wire transfer, PayPal, and Payoneer. Be aware that fees and withdrawal times can vary depending on the method you choose. Remember, always line up your contract details before beginning work. That way, there’s no confusion about when and how you’ll be paid. Happy freelancing!
