It is pretty easy and intuitive to post a project on Upwork. However, as a novice freelancer, you might need some guidance. Below are the steps you can follow:
Sign-up and Create a Client Account
Firstly, to be able to post a project on Upwork, you need to sign-up. If you already have a freelancer account, you can add a client account to it as well.
Steps for Sign-up:
- Visit www.upwork.com
- Click on ‘Sign Up’ on the top right corner of the homepage
- Fill in your details, your email, and create a password
- Click on ‘Work As a Freelancer’
- Complete the application form and submit it.
Post Your Project
Once you have your client account set up, you can now post your project.
Steps to Post a Project:
- Navigate to Jobs from the dropdown menu next to ‘Find Freelancer’
- Click on ‘Post a Job’
- Choose either ‘Short-term or part-time job’ or ‘Ongoing or full-time job’
- Give your job post a title
- Describe the work to be done in detail
- Choose the job category and subcategory
- Set your project budget and timeline
- Choose how you want to pay (hourly or fixed price)
- Set your visibility preferences (Everyone or Upwork users only)
- Optionally, you can add screening questions or require a cover letter
- Click on ‘Post Job’ when you’re done
