How to Verify Your Upwork Account

Verification on Upwork is a recommended step in setting up your freelancer account. This process helps build trust with potential clients and increases your overall profile visibility. Follow the below instructions to complete your Upwork verification.

Video Call Verification

  • Start by logging into your Upwork account and navigating to the Settings page.
  • Under the “User Settings” section, you’ll see an option for “Identity Verification.”
  • Click on “Start Chat” to begin the video call verification process.
  • Ensure you have a working camera and microphone for the video call and be prepared to show your valid government ID.

Submit Documents for Verification

  • Find the “Identity Verification” option in the “User Settings.”
  • Click “Upload Document” and select the type of government ID you will be submitting.
  • After submission, Upwork will review your documentation and a status report will be emailed to you.

Please Note:

Your account may be temporarily suspended if Upwork’s team has any issues with your documents, but the suspension will be lifted once those issues are resolved.

Generally, it takes 1–2 business days for your documents to be reviewed and assessment completed.

Once you’ve completed both the video call and document verification successfully, your Upwork account will be verified, enhancing your credibility with potential clients.
