First, let’s clarify what Connects are. Connects in Upwork is a bit like currency, except that instead of buying goods or services, you’re using them to “buy” the ability to submit proposals for jobs.

How Connects Work

• Usage: On Upwork, freelancers use Connects to submit proposals to jobs. Each job requires a certain number of Connects to apply for, often ranging 1-6 depending on the job.
• Acquiring Connects: As a freelancer, you’re provided with a number of free Connects each month, but if you need more, you have the option to buy them.
• Roll Over: Unused Connects roll over from month to month, but there is a cap to how many Connects you can accumulate from rollovers. Beyond that, they expire.

Why Use Connects?

The idea behind Connects is to balance the Upwork ecosystem by curbing the number of unnecessary proposals.
