How much is upwork fee for freelancers?

Understanding Upwork Fees for Freelancers

As a freelancer on Upwork, it’s essential to understand the fee structure so you can manage your earnings efficiently.

Upwork’s Sliding Fee Structure

Upwork uses a sliding fee structure for its freelancers. This means the fee you pay varies based on your lifetime billings with each client.

  • 20% for the first $500 you bill your client across all contracts
  • 10% for total billings with your client between $500.01 and $10,000
  • 5% for total billings with your client that exceed $10,000

Example of How this Works

If you have a new client and your project billings with this client reaches $600, you will be charged a 20% fee on the first $500, and a 10% fee on the next $100.

Additional Fees

Do note that added to the service fee, if you choose to withdraw your earnings using methods such as PayPal or Payoneer, a transaction fee may apply.
