How to Get Connects on Upwork

Connects on Upwork are virtual tokens that you use to submit proposals for jobs. Essentially, they play a critical role in facilitating your ability to bid for work. How you obtain these connects however has changed over time. Here’s the current method used:

Purchasing Connects

As an Upwork freelancer, you no longer receive free connects. Instead, you have to buy them. Each connect costs $0.15, and you can purchase them in various batches starting from 10 and up to 80.

• Go to Settings
• Click on Memberships and Connects
• Click the Buy Connects button
• Choose the desired number of connects to purchase
• Click on Buy Now

Earning Connects

There are certain situations where you can earn connects as well. This includes:

• Receiving a high rated job success score (JSS)
• Winning interview invitations from clients
• Upgrading to a Freelancer Plus membership

Remember:

Each job you apply for will cost a specific amount of connects (usually between 1-6), so it’s important to use them wisely and target jobs you have a realistic chance of winning. Good luck!
