How many proposals can you send on upwork?

Upwork Proposal Limit Explanation

As a new or experienced freelancer on Upwork, understanding the proposal limit proves crucial to how you pace yourself in the application process for gigs. Here’s a general rule of thumb to help you:

Freelancer Basic Account

If you’re using the Freelancer Basic account, which is free, you’re allocated 60 connects per month. The number of proposals you can send depends on how many connects each job requires. Typically, most jobs require 2 connects, but some may require up to 6. So, on average, you can send up to 30 proposals on the Freelancer Basic account if most of the jobs require 2 connects.

Freelancer Plus Account

The Freelancer Plus account, a subscription-based account that gets charged monthly ($14.99), gives you 70 connects to use. These roll over if not used, up to a maximum of 140 connects. Therefore, with this account type, you can send between approximately 23 and 35 job proposals within a month, depending on each job’s required connects.

It’s always about quality, not quantity

Remember: it’s always better to send a few high-quality, personalized proposals rather than firing off dozens of generic ones. One well-thought-out, tailor-made proposal could be your golden ticket to landing the perfect job!

  • Tailor your proposals: Every job you propose to should feel like it’s the only one you’re applying for. Make it personalized and thorough
  • Follow the client’s instructions: Read the job posting carefully. If the client asks for specific information, be sure to include it in your proposal
  • Proofread your proposal: Grammar and spelling mistakes can make a bad impression
