When does upwork pay?
Upwork Payment Schedule
Overview
As a freelancer on Upwork, your payments are processed in accordance with the platform’s standard payment schedule. This is determined by the type of contract you have with your client, as well as the method you choose for withdrawals.
Hourly Contracts
With hourly contracts, you’re paid on a weekly basis. Let’s go through the process:
- Work week: The Upwork work week starts on Monday and ends on Sunday.
- Review period: From Monday to Friday, clients have a chance to review your work done the week before.
- Payment processing: If there are no issues or disputes, the payment is processed on the following Wednesday.
Fixed-Price Contracts
With fixed-price contracts, payments are given once an assigned milestone is approved by your client.
Here’s the process:
- Work: Complete the agreed milestone.
- Submission: Submit the work for the milestone.
- Approval: Your client has 14 days to approve the milestone or to request changes.
- Payment: Once the milestone is approved, the payment will generally be released within five days.
Withdrawal
Once your payment has been processed, it will be available on Upwork. You will then have to manually withdraw it to your bank/Paypal/Payoneer account, or you can set up auto withdrawal.
Note: Withdrawal timeframe can vary depending on the method you choose.
