Upwork Fees for Freelancers

As a freelancer on Upwork, it’s important to understand the fee structure before you start working on this platform. The system is designed in a way to reward long-term relationships.

Fees based on Client Relationship

• 20% for the first $500 billed with the client
• 10% for lifetime billings with the client between $500.01 and $10,000
• 5% for lifetime billings with the client that exceed $10,000

Additional Charges

It’s worth noting that there can be additional fees in certain circumstances. For example, there’s a $2.50 withdrawal fee when transferring funds to your bank.

Payment Processing and Administration Fee

Lastly, for hourly contracts, a 2.75% payment processing and administration fee is charged.
