Understanding and Managing Your Connects on Upwork

What are Connects?

Upwork uses a virtual currency known as Connects to submit proposals for jobs. As a novice freelancer, each time you apply for a job, it requires a certain number of Connects, usually between 1 and 6. This system ensures that freelancers are using their applications purposefully on appropriate jobs.

How to Find Your Available Connects

Follow the steps below to view your current Connects balance:

• Sign in to your Upwork account.
• Click your profile picture found in the upper-right corner of the screen.
• From the drop-down menu, select ‘Settings’.
• Once you’re at the ‘Settings’ page, click on ‘Membership & Connects’ that is found in the left-side menu.
• On the ‘Membership & Connects’ page, your available Connects will be clearly displayed.

Note

Remember, each month you’ll receive a base number of Connects depending on your membership type. Also, keep in mind that the Connects reset monthly. Thus, if you have not consumed all your Connects in one month, they will not roll over to the next. Be strategic and make the best use of them!
